The activity bus needs work, showing rust in spots and the ABS system needs work.  To retrofit a regular bus for an activity bus would require air conditioning installed and the new training guidelines for bus drivers might create issues for who could drive them.
Bus number 11 needs fuel injector work; bus is under warranty. Two of the new 2018 buses have some recall repairs to be made.
Bryon Fiedler’s bus needs to be replaced first, and discussion at the June 24 monthly school board meeting, included bidding for a replacement in March and paying half down, with the balance paid on delivery the next year. This allows the cost to be spread between two years’ budgets. It was also noted that more buses with gasoline options are becoming available, which have become preferred over the diesel models. No official action was taken based upon the transportation committee report.
The resignation of special education teacher Ms. Smalls was approved. She has accepted a position in Minot.
Interviews for  replacements have started, said Superintendent Sheila Schlafmann. One applicant needs to meet special education  endorsement standards but has much experience in that particular field and a master’s degree was being considered. There are workable options available until the requirements are met, said Schlafmann. No action was taken at this time.
