Underwood’s elementary students will be welcomed back to school by a new, albeit familiar, face in the principal’s office this fall, as this past Thursday long-time elementary principal Barb Robinson expressed her intent to retire at the end of this school year in a letter to the school board.

"She will be missed," commented Supt. Brandt Dick, regarding Robinson. "She does such a good job."

Current high school principal Lee Weisgarber, who was also an elementary teacher for several years in Underwood, will be taking on the role of elementary principal. The school will be advertising to hire a new high school (secondary) principal. Whether activities director and/or transportation manager duties will be added to the secondary principal duties has yet to be determined. Weisgarber will continue on as the tech director at the school along with his elementary principal duties.

"He will be missed up here," said Dick, regarding Weisgarber and his work with the high school students. "We’re looking to hopefully find another good candidate to go in and do a good job like he did."
