Special occasions focus of downtown space

Don’t be looking for a Rusted Rail II or Rusted Rail West, or any other Rusted Rail-type- named bar to be opening in downtown Underwood any time soon.
That’s according to Rusted Rail owner Landen Lauf, who recently bought the former PJ’s on Lincoln Ave. in Underwood.
“People keep asking when we’re going to open,” said Lauf.
They’re not, is the simple answer.
Lauf did have a full-service bar open in the building by transferring his liquor license from the Rusted Rail for a day during the recent MidSummer Classic, but the business owner has no plans to open up a bar in the location in the near future. There really isn’t a need for another bar in Underwood since there are already three.
The space, however, is available for rental for special occasions, said Lauf. Birthdays, anniversaries, reunions and other parties are certainly options, he said, and he’s open to opening it for other occasions as well.
