There are some major changes going on with the Central McLean Cougars’ Homecoming this year.
After holding separate pep rallies and separate Homecoming parades for years, the Central McLean Cougars and their fans are joining forces for one big parade, one big pep rally at Turtle Lake Friday, Sept. 23, culminating in one big game when the Cougars host Shiloh Christian on the gridiron at 7 p.m.
Several of the annual homecoming activities will stay the same, according to Underwood Principal Lee Weisgarber. The noon activities and class competitions that always take place during the week will still go on like normal at the respective schools.
The first major change, though, will take place Sept. 19, the Monday of Homecoming week, when the annual tug ‘o war and coronation will be held at the end of the school day starting at 2:30 p.m. Typically those events are held during the pep rally the day of the Homecoming game.
A community bon fire/pep rally will be held Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the McLean County Speedway in Underwood starting at 8 p.m., with the majority of the Homecoming activities taking place Friday, the day of the game.
