TLM changes to four-day school weeks next year
Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, Turtle Lake-Mercer public schools will begin a four-day school week schedule.
“This was a big decision for our school district,” said Turtle Lake-Mercer Superintendent Sheila Schlafmann. “It came after research, stakeholder input and careful consideration of what’s best for our students and staff.
On Feb. 26 the school district held a special meeting and voted to submit an application to the state for approval. Voting in favor of the motion was President Rick Britton and Directors Brent Ravnaas and Megan Sparrow. Voting against the motion were Directors Brian O’Shea and Julie Wagner.
On April 24, the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction approved the application, officially allowing the school district to move to four-day school weeks.
