Turtle Lake approves bond resolution for street project
The Turtle Lake City Commission approved a bond resolution and advanced plans for a citywide street project during its May 18 meeting.
According to meeting minutes published in the Central McLean News-Journal on May 28, commissioners approved the resolution following a report from John Lundby of Colliers Securities, who said the bond sale to finance the project resulted in a 4.45% interest rate over a 20-year maturity..
The commission also reviewed updates from Moore Engineering, which reported contracts have been sent to Keller Paving for the project. A construction start date is expected in mid-July. Engineers noted the project schedule will take into account the Turtle Days parade route.
In other project updates, commissioners were told underground work on a sewer project was expected to be completed by May 19, after which Knife River will begin additional work. Chip sealing is planned for 2027, and manhole rehabilitation will begin once weather conditions stabilize. Officials also confirmed lawns damaged on Charles Street will be repaired.
The commission approved an engineering amendment presented by Moore Engineering.
During new business, the commission approved a gaming site authorization for Tipsy Turtle and a separate gaming authorization for “The 133.” Commissioners also approved event permits for Tipsy Turtle events, including a presser event and Turtle Days activities.
A 2027 law enforcement contract was approved unanimously.
Commissioners discussed the potential sale of a Main Street storage lot, valued at $3,800, and an RV park property valued at $6,200. Further discussion was tabled until after Turtle Days.
The commission accepted the highest of two bids, $7,400, for the sale of property on Lincoln Street.
