Turtle Lake approves more than $1.1 million in street and utility project payments
The Turtle Lake City Commission approved more than $1.1 million in contractor payment applications during its Sept. 14 meeting as work continues on major street and utility improvement projects throughout the city.
According to the engineer’s report presented by Alexis Nienow of Moore Engineering, the city’s Community Development Block Grant utility project is nearing completion. The only remaining work involves minor internal drop work on three to four manholes.
Commissioners unanimously approved a payment application to Swanberg Construction for $172,876.80 related to the utility project. The motion was made by Tim Britton and seconded by Angelique Terranova-Nakken.
The commission also received an update on the city’s street improvement project. Officials reported that concrete work and placement of millings were nearly complete, while Keller Paving continued paving, finishing and patching work. Commissioners were told road access would improve as paving progresses.
A second payment application, totaling $1,006,236.60, was approved for Keller Paving. The motion also passed unanimously.
During the public comment period, resident Ethan Schwalk requested information regarding the purchase of millings, while resident Dianne Zenker spoke about paving or milling First Avenue between Putnam Street and Roosevelt Street.
