Turtle Lake-Mercer board reviews enrollment, sets election date
The Turtle Lake-Mercer School Board reviewed enrollment figures, approved financial and staffing items and set the June 2026 school board election date during its regular meeting March 9.
According to meeting minutes published in the Central McLean News-Journal on April 30, The board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Feb. 17 regular meeting, financial reports and payment of bills.
Enrollment figures for March showed a total district enrollment of 165 students in kindergarten through grade 12, with an additional four students enrolled in preschool. The district reported 76 students in kindergarten through sixth grade and 89 students in seventh through 12th grade.
Committee updates included a report that the building and grounds committee met Feb. 19 to discuss HVAC options. A transportation meeting was also planned for later in March.
In her administrative report, the principal highlighted several student learning and engagement activities, including eighth-grade participation in the Tools, Tech, Torque and Trades (T4) Summit, career-focused presentations, a mock career fair, and classroom visits by community professionals. A one-book, one-school reading initiative launched reading month activities for students in grades 4–7, with additional events planned throughout March.
The district also reported progress on its transition to Infinite Campus, noting access to a trial site and upcoming training.
