Turtle Lake to proceed with street project

fter hosting a special meeting to consider the street project review, the city of Turtle Lake voted to move forward with the project.
The commissioners held a special meeting Oct. 23 at the city hall to review the previously discussed street project.
According to meeting minutes published in the Oct. 30 edition of the Central McLean News-Journal, Moore Engineering presented a protest list to the commissioners.
Those results showed 15.76% of residents participated in the protest.
“Protesters represented less than 50% of the population,” the minutes stated, resulting in the commissioners discussing whether or not they wanted to proceed with the project.
Three different motions were made regarding the topic.
The first was a motion made by Commissioner Richard Schwalk and supported by Commissioner Matt Lang to proceed with the project.
Mayor Dianne Zenker, Commissioner Tim Britton, Lang and Schwalk all voted in favor of the motion. Commissioner Stacey Adams voted against the motion.
A second motion to authorize Moore Engineering to prepare plans and specifications was made by Britton and supported by Lang. All commissioners except for Adams voted in favor of the motion.
The last motion was made by Britton and supported by Lang to authorize Moore Engineering to begin survey work, which was unanimously passed by the commissioners.
