Underwood board accepts resignations, updates policies

The Underwood School Board accepted two teacher resignations, approved a large slate of policy changes and received several staffing and operational updates during its regular meeting March 30.
According to meeting minutes published in the May 7 edition of the Central McLean News-Journal, board members approved the consent agenda, which included the Feb. 26 meeting minutes, board bills and payments from the general, food service, student activity and trust and agency funds.
Business Manager Sarah Gunkel presented the financial report, noting the district’s 202425 fiscal year audit is scheduled for April 27. Gunkel also reported she has completed her coursework for the North Dakota School Boards Association’s School Business Manager Certification Program, with graduation planned at the association’s annual convention in October.
Gunkel told the board election arrangements with McLean and Mercer counties have been finalized. She added she has now fully taken over payroll and human resources duties, while continuing training with CREA on the accounts payable side.
The board approved the February 2026 financial reports following a roll call vote.
