Underwood chalks up another top finish at Tech Day

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Year after year, the team of techno junkies at the Underwood High School walk away the champions of the Tech Day at Minot State University. On Nov. 30, area high school students competed during the Department of Business Information Technology’s 14th annual Technology Day. The high school students competed in accounting, business law, desktop publishing, document production, business principles, spreadsheet applications, Web page design and business presentations. Perennial champion Underwood High School won the sweepstakes trophy once again. Coach Julie Driessen said that it is hard to count how many of the 14 events that they have won but it appears to be about 11. Driessen knows the students are very talented, but coaches are not able to see anything that the students are working on in competition. So it’s hard to say just how great they performed. She said the students have a good backing from teachers at the school to prepare them to win this competition.
