Underwood comm. addresses safety

The subject of safety was front and center at the Underwood City Commission’s regular meeting last Monday.
The safety of the customers and staff at the Black Nugget bar was pushed home by the commissioners when they addressed questions by the Black Nugget’s new proprietors Gussie and Abby Liebel, who were granted the bar’s liquor license following the passing of Dennis Liebel, Sr., Gussie’s husband and Abby’s father.
A recent inspection of the bar’s video security system following a reported theft of $500 revealed the bar’s video system wasn’t working at the time of the theft, so there would be no video for the sheriff’s department to review in order to help capture the perpetrator.
Abby Liebel addressed the commission, saying the video malfunction was a result of an issue with West River Telecommunications. However, she added, neither she nor Gussie was aware that the stipulations that had been put on the previous license was still applicable to the new license.
