Underwood commission president resigns

The president of the city of Underwood has stepped down from her role after two years, citing personal reasons.
According to city of Underwood Auditor Jordan Webbe, Roxie Kapanke presented to the commission at its April 28 meeting held at city hall and announced she would be stepping down due to personal reasons.
Kapanke later took to social media and thanked everyone who has supported her in the role since 2024.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported me the past two years as (president),” she wrote. “It is with heavy heart that I need to inform you that for personal reasons, I had to resign last night at the city meeting.”
With the vacancy, Webbe said Vice President Derrick Fischer will lead the commission until the position is filled.
