Underwood library to host local events

The Underwood Public Library is host to several local events in the upcoming weeks.

The first Remote Control Vehicle Event will be held on Sunday, Dec. 29, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Underwood City Hall Gym.

"Kids and their parents are invited to bring any remote control vehicles they have and race them against their friends and neighbors," said Harmony Higbie, librarian at the Underwood Public Library.

Adult supervision is requested and concessions will be sold to benefit the library.

The Underwood Public Library also has an active book club that meets on the second Sunday of the month starting in September and running until May. With members in Underwood, Riverdale and Coleharber area, the book club is looking to expand their reach

Loretta Gilbert created the book club when she was the head librarian in Underwood. The current director of the library is Harmony Higbie. She has worked at the library wince September 2007, and ives in Underwood with her husband Jeff and two sons, Samuel and Joshua.
