Underwood moving forward with asbestos removal from water tower

After receiving an update on the water tower project, the city of Underwood moved forward with a proposal to remove asbestos from the roof of the existing building.
The Underwood City Commission held its monthly meeting Aug. 19, where they received an update from Mara Boone of Moore Engineering.
According to meeting minutes published in the Central McLean News-Journal, Boone told the commission the water tower was currently getting sandblasted with a priming coat and two paint coatings.
“She reminded the commission that the sandblasting and priming does take the longest since they are doing the outside and inside,” the minutes stated.
Additionally, Boone confirmed with the commissioners the pump house was completed and the pumps were up and running with no issues so far.
