Water plan hits the freezing point

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Underwood City Commissioners discussed the plan for the drainage pump during their last regular meeting. It seemed there was question about how the culvert should be placed near Repnow Slough. It was installed next to the slough, but according to Mayor Rick Olson, it was not to the specifications originally agreed on. Olson said the culvert should have been placed lower so that water at a lower level would seep into the culvert and so that water could spill over the top of the culvert in a high water situation. As is, he believes that there would not be enough water entering the hole considering what the pump will be capable of. “My opinion is that it’s not deep enough and not enough holes in the culvert to fill the hole,” Olson said.
