Westridge to be rezoned

Westridge Estates will likely soon be rezoned, allowing only houses that are stick built in the development, following Monday night’s decision by the Underwood City Commission to deny the lot purchase request by Alesia McDonald and Nathan Nienow for one dollar, as they have the intention of putting a manufactured home on the lot.

In their request for the commissioners to deny sale of the lot, the current residents of Westridge Estates indicated they had no issue with selling the property to McDonald and Nienow if they were going to build a home on the property – their issue was solely with the house being a "manufactured home."

McDonald and Nienow were not present at the meeting, but they had recently met with representatives of Westridge to discuss the issue.

Justin Adolf, who recently built a home in Westridge Estates reiterated what Barbara Wolf, another Westridge resident, had stated at the previous city commission meeting. Those who have already built homes in Westridge were told they could not have manufactured homes in the development, and that there was a certain standard of homes that the development was trying to achieve.

"When we were all building, we were held to this standard," said Adolf. "I was told I didn’t have a choice.
