Aggies take second at state tournament
NDHSAA Class B State Individual Tournament was Friday and Saturday, and of the 31 teams that competed, the Velva took second place overall.
But that success didn’t come easy for the Aggies, which consists of wrestlers from Central McLean.
“We wrestled really well, it was a tough season,” Aggies coach Chad Barstad said. ‘’In the 17 years of coaching, I’ve never had to deal with the injuries that we have had to deal with this year. We had so many kids that toughed it out at the end of the year that probably shouldn’t have even been on the mat.”
But when it was all said and done, the boys in blue pulled it off.
Senior Cade Okeson was the champion in the 285# division.
Senior Lucas Soli took home the individual bronze, and Alex Leier and Lexton Smith both took fourth in their respective weight classes.
