Aggies wrestlers take first place at Regionals
The Velva Aggies wrestling team, which consists of student athletes from Central McLean, came out on top once again.
Last weekend, the boys wrestled their hearts out, and received first place the West Region Class B Individual Tourney in Killdeer.
“We wrestled very good on Saturday. Our kids are peaking at the right time,” Aggies wrestling coach Chad Barstad said. “It’s pretty hard to get all 13 wrestlers to qualify for state and these boys continue to impress us each week.”
Garrison has one competitor heading to Fargo.
GHS junior Emmit Lagge qualified in the 145-pound division.
“Making state is a dream come true honestly,” Lagge said. “It makes all the hard work and weight cut worth it.”
Besides just qualifying, two wrestlers from Velva, Madden Barstad and Cade Okeson, both took first place in their divisions and are now the 2026 Region Champs.
Aggie’s Raider Barstad and Lucas Soli were also runners-up in their divisions.
