Aldinger qualifies for state in discus

Central McLean senior Dillon Aldinger nabbed the Cougars’ first state-qualifying spot this past week, surpassing the discus qualifying mark of 140’ easily with his throw of 153-1 at the Hazen Invitational Saturday.  Aldinger’s throw was good enough for second place in the event, behind first place finisher Porter Williams of Minot, who won with a throw of 164-7.  Aldinger also placed in the shot put, bringing home seventh place with a throw of 40-4.5. The Cougar boys finished seventh in the team standings with 35 points, while Minot won the meet with 254.2 points.  Dickinson Trinity placed second with 98.3 points. In girls action, the Cougars tied for sixth place with Kidder County-Napoleon, both teams racking up 52.8 points. Hazen’s  girls won the meet with 152 points, followed by Dickinson Trinity in second place with 95 points.
