Astros surge late to defeat Titans 7-2
A pair of late-inning scoring bursts proved decisive as the Hazen Post 189 Astros took control in the fifth and sixth frames to earn a 7-2 road victory over the Garrison Titans Legion team June 30.
Through four complete innings, both teams were locked in a scoreless duel, with starting pitchers working efficiently and keeping batters off balance.
Garrison’s Cooper Coble delivered a strong start on the mound, holding Hazen hitless through the early frames and recording multiple strikeouts to keep the Astros quiet.
But in the top of the fifth, Hazen broke through.
Timely hitting and patient at-bats led to a three-run rally that put the Astros in front.
They kept the momentum going in the sixth, adding four more runs on a string of base hits and capitalizing on a walk and a pair of Garrison defensive miscues.
In total, Hazen compiled 11 hits over seven innings of play, scoring all seven of their runs in just two frames.
