Beach bucks the odds, tops Cougars

They never got to release their balloons.
Several Central McLean fans were waiting for the Cougars to score their first touchdown to release their handful of balloons, but the time never came as Beach kept the Cougars out of the end zone the entirety of Saturday’s playoff game. The Buccaneers outlasted the Cougars 8-0, finding the end zone midway through the third quarter when senior quarterback Gage Swanson rambled 12 yards for the score.
The PAT run gave the Buccaneers what would be the final two points of the game as they rolled to the first-round playoff win.
Missed opportunities and too many mistakes – those are the two things that Central McLean Co-coaches Kevin Dockter and Grant Singer both pointed to as reasons for the loss.
The Cougars lost a pair of fumbles, including one on the five-yard-line, and struggled to convert on third down, going 3-for-10 on third down, and 0-for-3 on fourth down.
