Big bats help overcome pitching woes

One tough loss was enough for the week.
The Cougars rallied for a win following a Thursday afternoon 15-5 loss to Heart River as the Cougars got their bats moving the next day on their home field, smacking their way to a big 15-5 win over Stanley.
“(We) bounced back after a tough loss to Heart River,” commented Cougar fast-pitch softball coach Kyle Hunt.
The difference from one day to the next was primarily in the defense, noted Hunt. The Cougars started making more defensive plays.
“Our bats were still strong. The difference this game was not allowing them easy runs,” he said. “It was finally good to see us close out a game, and not let them back in.”
Zoey Smalls took the pitching win, with Maria Wirtz coming in as relief for the Cougars.
