Boys looking for more offense

By Suzanne Werre, BHG News Service

Underwood boys basketball coach Steve Cottingham is willing to be patient with his team as he waits for all the little pieces to fall together for his team, but he’s only got a couple months to work with. The Underwood boys dropped three games on the basketball court this past week, but despite that, Cottingham says he is still seeing some of those cogs falling into place. “We’re starting to get a few more people that are contributing, and that’s a good thing,” said Cottingham. In the Hazen and Mohall games, five different players contributed on the scoreboard. Against Flasher and Hazen, Jeremy Wirtz and Mitchell LeRoy both hit double digits, adding a little more punch to the offense. “Mitchell is getting a little more comfortable scoring,” noted Cottingham. As the Comets look for a rematch with the Cardinals (they lost to the Red Birds by nine points in the county tournament), Cottingham looks for his team to be firing on all cylinders, getting more scoring from different players.
