With two district double-header games this past week, the Trojans picked up three wins and one loss. The boys won both their contests, beating Garrison 50-35 on Tuesday night in Garrison. Friday night they defeated Washburn, 69-52, on the Trojans’ home court.
On the girls’ side, Garrison outlasted the Trojans, 34-32, but the girls bounced back Friday to defeat Washburn 36-21.
The girls raised their record to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in district play. The boys raised their overall record to 6-4 and 3-0 in the district.
In the girls’ game against the Troopers, they struggled for three quarters as their shots were not going in and they scored just 17 points through three quarters.
However, on the bright side, they were only down nine, 26-17, at the end of three so they were within striking distance for a comeback.
The fourth quarter started with the teams trading a couple of buckets. At the 4:01 mark, Sophie Sparrow drilled a triple from the right wing to cut the Troopers’ lead to 29-24. Twenty seconds later Sparrow made good on two free throw attempts but a short jumper from the Troopers put them up 31-26.
