Bulldogs top Comets in three

The Underwood Comets struggled to get their mojo back Thursday night in the Region 5 third-place game after falling Tuesday night  to Shiloh, putting the Comets in the third-place match-up against Flasher.
The Bulldogs came out blazing, outlasting the Comets in three sets, led by the offensive duo of Emma Marion and Jenny Campbell, who tallied 16 and 12 kills each.
The Comets were led by Maria Wirtz, who hammered home eight kills, while McKenna Wilson was good for five.
Brooke Weisenberger, who was named to the All-Region team, was the defensive leader with 17 kills, while Lindsey Landenberger was good for 10 assists.
The Comets struggled early in the match, falling to Flasher 25-10, but rallied in the second set before falling by the score of 25-19. The Bulldogs finished off Underwood in the third set, 25-13.
Following the game, Comet Coach Mary Hefta was more focused on the season than the final loss.
