Central McLean athletes post strong finishes at home meet

Central McLean’s boys and girls track and field teams competed against a strong field at the Central McLean County Varsity Meet on April 30 in Underwood, with several individual performances standing out across the distance, sprint and field events.
The Central McLean boys finished fifth in the team standings with 78 points. Southern McLean claimed the boys team title with 130 points, followed by Linton/HMB (101.5), Standing Rock (81) and Hettinger County (80).
On the girls side, Central McLean placed sixth overall with 48 points. Hettinger County captured the team championship with 126 points, while Linton/HMB (86) and New Salem-Almont (77) rounded out the top three.
In the boys competition, Aiden Hanson led Central McLean with a standout performance in the middle distances and field events. Hanson won the 800 meters in a season-best time of 2:10.50 and added a first-place finish in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 42 feet, 6 inches. He also claimed the high jump title by clearing 6 feet, 2 inches.
Kannon Hunt joined Hanson on the podium in the 800 meters, finishing second with a season-best time of 2:10.72. Levi Repnow added two top-four finishes for Central McLean, placing fourth in both the 1,600 meters (5:24.69) and the 3,200 meters (12:10.84).
Central McLean picked up additional points in the sprint events with Reed Levey finishing fourth in the 100 meters (12.31 seconds) and placing second in the 200 with a personal-best time of 24.24 seconds. Aiden Hanson finished fourth in the 100, while Kaden Lelm and Darick Jones also competed in the event.
