Central McLean competes at Hunter Seifert Memorial
The Central McLean boys and girls track and field teams competed May 2 at the Hunter Seifert Memorial Meet at Shiloh Christian School, facing a large field of Class B and Class A competition from across the region.
Central McLean placed 11th in the boys division with 28 points and eighth in the girls standings with 26 points as Carrington and Bowman County captured the team titles.
Carrington won the boys meet with 90 points, followed by Hettinger County at 80.5. Southern McLean and Bismarck Century tied for third with 67 points. Bowman County led the girls field with 116 points, with Hettinger County (85.5) and Carrington (75) rounding out the top three.
On the boys side, Kylar Hansen, Aiden Hanson, Kannon Hunt, and Kaden Lelm led the scoring for Central McLean, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay. The quartet posted a winning time of 3:38.61 to top the field in the closing event.
Hansen turned in a strong sprinting performance, placing fourth in the 200 meters in 23.92 seconds after finishing seventh in the 100 meters. Hanson added a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 54.03 seconds, while Hunt took seventh in the same event.
Distance runner Thaddeus Voth earned a top-four finish for the Cougars, placing fourth in the 3,200 meters in 13:29.61.
In field events, Zachary Wolf led Central McLean with a mark of 121 feet, 4 inches in the javelin, while Royce Wardner recorded a personal-best throw of 92-2 in the same event.
