Central McLean earns multiple wins at Washburn triangular

Central McLean athletes turned in a handful of event wins and several podium finishes during the Southern McLean JH and HS Triangular on April 15 at Washburn High School.
In the team race, Central McLean placed third in both varsity divisions, scoring 89 points in the girls standings and 133 points in the boys standings behind Hazen and Southern McLean. At the middle school level, Central McLean finished runner-up in both divisions, with the girls scoring 35 points and the boys totaling 18.
Girls: Lauer, Gross, Schlafmann lead varsity efforts
Central McLean’s varsity girls were paced by a strong mix of sprint, distance, relay and throwing performances.
Brooklyn Lauer posted a meet win in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 1:03.60 and also placed second in the 100 (13.95). Abi Gross added another first-place finish for Central McLean by winning the 1600 in 5:45.09.
In the throws, Vivian Schlafmann put together one of the top all-around days of the meet, winning shot put with a personal-best mark of 31-09 while also placing second in both discus (94-00 PB) and javelin (103-02 PB). Nellie Heger added points in discus with a personal-best throw of 77-05.
