Central McLean runners compete at Stanley Invitational

Central McLean runners turned in several strong performances at the Stanley Invitational on Aug. 28, competing against some of the top Class B cross country programs in western North Dakota.
In the boys varsity 5,000-meter race, freshman Thaddeus Voth led the Cougars with a 33rd-place finish in a field of more than 100 runners. Voth completed the course in 20 minutes, 36.58 seconds. Teammate Gage Ellis added a top-50 effort, placing 49th in 21:17.17.
New Town captured the boys team title with 60 points, followed by Beulah (77), Bottineau (91), Stanley (105) and Kenmare-Bowbells (108). Southern McLean's Roughriders finished sixth with 108 points.
On the girls side, Central McLean was represented by Eleanor Carlson and Kensley Ruffo in the varsity 5,000-meter race. Carlson led the Cougars with a 29th-place finish in 24:11.36, while Ruffo crossed the finish line in 42nd place with a time of 26:28.86.
