CM Girls dominate TGU to continue dominant streak
The Central McLean Cougars girls basketball team continued its strong early-season momentum Saturday night, pulling away for a 61–42 home win over TGU to remain unbeaten on the young season.
Central McLean used a blend of defensive variety and offensive balance to control the contest, improving to 3–0 overall while handing TGU a difficult night against constant pressure and changing looks.
From the opening quarter, the Cougars set the tone by forcing turnovers and dictating pace, building a working margin they steadily expanded as the game progressed.
Head coach Kipp Sparrow said the game plan was built around disrupting TGU’s comfort level and forcing decisions on the floor rather than from the bench.
“We went into the game wanting to take the decision making away from the TGU coaches and put it into the players’ hands,” Sparrow said. “As much as we wanted to continue playing man defense, we felt that their players would make mistakes against defenses they could not recognize.”
