Comet girls beat Cossacks

By Mary Hefta, Sports Writer

The Underwood Comets girls basketball team traveled to Max last Friday night in the deciding game of the District 10 first place seeding. Although all the other places are up in the air, the Comets locked in the first place seed after beating the Cossacks 63-47. "Tonight’s win was a total team effort. I was very pleased with our defensive intensity and focus throughout this game. I thought we did a great job of seeing the floor all night long." said head coach Toni Cottingham. The veteran head coach continued: "Crystal Dammen, Miranda Pochant, Natalie Eslinger and Megan Morman all had great passes that led to points for us in the half-court and transition part of our game. "Nat’s perimeter defense frustrated their point guard and set the tempo for all of us. Miranda continues to see the floor—she has become a great passer for us.
