Comet netters gearing up for post-play

The Comets saw a lot of volleyball action this past week as they took on some of the area’s toughest competition in the Shiloh Invitational Saturday, as well as in regular season action last Thursday and Tuesday, losing several close sets on the court.

Against Napoleon, Burke County, Grant County and Flasher in tournament action Saturday, the Comets saw several neck-and-neck sets, but fell in each of their matches by the score of 2-0, falling short of their goal of making it to the tournament round after the pool play.

Comet coach Mary Hefta says Saturday’s tournament was a good opportunity for her to see her players in their specific positions, and see some different competition. While they didn’t advance to tournament play, it was a good day’s play.

Senior Chailee Berg, who counted 17 digs to pace the team during pool play, says she was happier with how the Comets played Saturday than in other recent regular season action.
