Comet netters third at Killdeer

Going into this fall’s volleyball season, the Central McLean Cougars didn’t really know how things would come together, especially since they have a new coach and just one senior to lead the team.
Saturday’s results at the Killdeer Invitational gave them some insight into where they are now, which is competitive against most teams yet needing to improve against others.
The Cougars finished in third place at the tournament, losing their first two matches of the tournament before winning the next three.
“We started out slow,” said first-year Head Coach Loretta Hansen. “We only have a few returning from varsity last year, so they’re just learning to work together.
“That day, though, just with the games that we had, there was a lot of improvement. If we keep improving like that, we’ll be good.”
