The fifth-ranked Comets kept their state dreams alive Monday night when they bumped off the 4th-ranked Wilton-Wing Miners in three sets Monday night.
The game set the stage for a match-up with region powerhouse Shiloh Christian Tuesday night.
The Miners led occasionally throughout the  match, but it was the Comets who controlled the tempo and 90 percent of the match as they won by scores of 21-21, 24-14 and 25-18.
Hitter Maria Wirtz led the Comets’ assault on the Miners, counting eight kills and five blocks.
Underwood Coach Mary Hefta noted Wirtz’s stats were impressive for the match, but spread the kudos around to the team.
Even when Wilton-Wing led from time to time, she had no doubt the Comets would bring home the win.
