Comets claim ‘10’ title

The Underwood Comets captured the last-ever District 10 volleyball championship Thursday night, topping top-seeded Wilton-Wing by the score of 3-0.
Saying they defeated the Miners is putting it lightly, as the Comets slayed the Miners, never really letting Wilton-Wing challenge, winning by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-18.
Asked when she felt like they had the game sewn up, Underwood coach Mary Hefta said she just had a good feeling all day.
"We executed," she said simply. "We just executed so well."
Junior Maria Wirtz agreed -- half-way through the match.
Wirtz ran up to teammate Emily Eichhorst, shouting "You stud!," and that was just for Eichhost’s ability to shuck and jive her way around a long serve by a Miner player.
