The Underwood Comet girls clinched the second seed of this week’s District 10 tournament by knocking off the Center-Stanton Wildcats this week, edging out
a comeback CS team the final minutes by the score of 47-42.
The Comets also bumped off South Prairie on the road Friday night by the score of 62-38 before capping regular season action with a 68-40 drubbing
of Solen-Cannonball Saturday night in what would be the Underwood team’s last home game as Comets.
Underwood’s defense is its greatest weapon heading into the tournament, notably holding their final three opponents to an average of 40 points per game,
while the Comets tossed in an average of 59 points per game the final week.
The Comets’ g reatest offensive weapon, senior Taysha Snyder, who combined for 69 points in the last three games, will be looked to to bring down plenty of rebounds for
the Comets this week as well, noted Underwood Coach Gary Ballard, who pointed out the senior standout has also pulled down more than 870 rebounds in her career.
