Comets dig down deep against Cardinals

By Michael Johnson, Editor

The Comets didn’t end with a win on Oct. 5 against the Washburn Cardinals but they didn’t go down without a fight. Coming off a weekend of tournament action and a Monday game against Drake-Anamoose, the Comets came back on Tuesday to play Washburn. It was clear that they were well practiced. Underwood came out leading the way, at one point up by four points. Serves from Taylor Sorensen and Rachel Neff had the Cardinals stumbling to keep up in the first period. But the Cardinals soon found their ground. The Comets were stalled out at 14 points as the Cardinals plowed the ball down at the middle hitters, Kenzie Bertsch and Rachel Neff. The Cardinals made it a tough game at 21-14 but the Comets weren’t done yet.
