The Underwood Comets are going to use the upcoming break from school to work on a lot of things.
After this past week’s fourth-place finish at the Velva Invitational, the Comets saw where they are and they have to work on, according to second-year head coach Alex Jangula.
There’s a lot to work on, said Jangula, after the Comets won their opener of the tournament by just two points after having a 16-point lead over Sawyer. They then went on to fall to Our Redeemer’s 71-37 in semifinal action, and Velva 67-43 in the third-place battle.
“We’ve just got to work on taking care of the ball, rebounding, taking good shots,” said Jangula, summing up the tournament.
Regarding the semifinal game against Our Redeemer’s, he said “There’s a reason they went to state last year.”
The Knights dominated the Comets, particularly in the fourth quarter, not giving up any points to the Underwood in the final stanza.
