Garrison forged a balanced scoring attack in Friday’s semifinal game against Wilton-Wing, but it wasn’t enough to combat the one-woman scoring machine in Lauren Koski as Wilton-Wing was able to hold off the Troopers 51-47 to advance to the District 10 title game Saturday night in Underwood.
Underwood picked up a semifinal win to advance to the title game, sending Center-Stanton to the regional qualifier Saturday, while Turtle Lake-Mercer turned back Max in loser-out action to stay alive and advance to the regional qualifier.
Troopers Shelby Gehring, Kaitlyn Klein and Katherine Fox were all in double digits for the Troop with 14, 10 and 10, respectively, but Wilton-Wing’s Koski poured in 25 points by herself to blaze the trail for the winning Miners.
The Troopers held a tenuous two-point lead going into the final stanza, but was able to cash in on just one field goal from Katherine Fox, and five free throws during the final minutes, while the Miners were able to get field goals from Jordan Tooke, Jade Koski and a pair from Lauren Koski to take the momentum and the win.
Earlier in the night, top seed Underwood bumped off Center-Stanton by the score of 56-29, while Turtle Lake-Mercer defeated Max handily by the score of 57-42.
