The Cougar volleyball team reached two milestones this past week, knocking off one of the region’s perennial powerhouse teams not just once this past week, but twice.
The Comets bumped off Grant County 3-0 Thursday at Grant County – a key regional win.
“We had never beaten Grant County, so it was a huge region win for us,” said Comets Coach Mary Hefta. “All these region games matter, and we went in with excitement and energy.
“One of our preseason goals was to win at the match against the Coyotes, and we did it pretty solidly, she added.
The Comets handily won the first two sets, but found themselves trailing 12-18 in game three, before they took control of service, rallying to win by the score of 25-21.
The Comets won the match 25-19, 25-19 and 25-21 led by Mackenzie Snyder’s 12 kills, Lindsey Landenberger’s 15 blocks, 18 digs from Brooke Weisenberger and 16 from Snyder.
