Comets ousted in first round

After clinching a spot in the Region 5 volleyball tournament, the Underwood Comets were hoping to keep playing through to the title match. The Wilton-Wing Miners had another plan in mind, however, as the Miners gave the Comets a dose of déjà-vu from the week before, knocking off the Comets by the score of 3-0.
The Miners used consistent, often unreturnable, serves to propel them to the win, as Kalyssa Schock served up four aces, while Thorson was good for three as well as the Miners counted 12 aces on their way to the win.
The Comets kept pace with the Miners through the first set before falling by the score of 25-22, but the second set saw the Miners dominate, eventually winning by the score of 25-10.
Game three saw the Comets rally to compete, but it was still too little, too late, as the Miners rolled to the 25-20 win the final set.
“This wasn’t the outcome we were hoping for,” commented Underwood Coach Jordyn Singer. “The girls showed a lot of heart during the 1st and 3rd matches, they didn’t give up.
