Comets show strength in loss to Flasher

By Michael Johnson, Editor

The Underwood Comets volleyball team wasn’t going to go all the way to Flasher just to get the ball pounded back in their faces. Going in they knew Flasher was a very good team that would be tough to beat. They ended up playing their hearts out in each of the three losses. That’s something that had their coach Mary Hefta very pleased. "The girls were fired up and played great in all aspects of the game," Hefta said. "We were competitive in every set, and although we lost 3-0, I was incredibly proud of everyone." Senior Chlorisa Hirschkorn led in the area of kills with eight. Fellow senior Rachel Neff added four kills while junior Taylor Sorensen had three. Senior Miranda Pochant and freshman Abby Landenberger rounded out the kills with two. Sophomore Libero Kenzie Bertsch dug herself another hole and led the team in the area of digs with 33 while Neff and Sorensen each dug up 18 hard driven balls. Pochant had six digs.
