Underwood’s Zach Cottingham poured in 21 points last Thursday night as the Comets knocked off a home-standing Grant County 59-43 to pick up one more win before the post-season starts.

Other action this past week saw the Comets go through a second-quarter drought against New Salem-Almont Saturday night, as the Comets didn’t score a single point in the second quarter as the Holsteins rolled to a 58-38 win.

"It was a case of we absolutely couldn’t throw anything into the ocean," said Underwood Coach Steve Cottingham with a little laugh.

"Sometimes you start to hit a stretch like that, then you quit doing the things that even give you chances," he added.

Cottingham and Parker Heger each tossed in 11 points to pace the Comets in scoring, while Spencer Rebel led New Salem with 24.

In the win against Grant County, the Comets were able to run the ball pretty well, noted Cottingham.
