The Underwood Comets fought hard to redeem themselves Thursday night at Wilton, where they wiped out Tuesday night’s 3-0 loss against Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky by knocking off Garrison-Max 3-1 to advance to the Region 5 tournament in Underwood this week.

"Bouncing back on Thursday was the goal, and I think the girls did a great job," said Comet coach Mary Hefta.

"The girls had a goal to make it to regionals again this year, so I’m sure that was a huge part of that victory."

That, and the play of junior Madison Holm, who counted eight kills and two blocks to lead the Comets at the net Thursday night against the Troopers.

"Our net play was so much better on the defensive end," said Hefta."Madi Holm had a great all-around match."

Holm was joined at the net by senior Erin Dammann and Maria Wirtz, who seven and six aces, respectively.
