Cottingham triple-double spurs hoops win

After starting the season with a 1-6 record, the Comet boys have gone on a 5-2 run, most recently bumping off Westhope-Newburg and Sawyer, both non-district games. Their record now stands at 6-8 with five regular season games left in the schedule.

Although happy that the Comets have been able to find their scoring sweet spots a little more easily lately, Underwood Head Coach Alex Jangula says the team still needs to learn how to keep its intensity.

"We’ve just got to close out games," said Jangula.

He pointed out that the Comets were ahead of the visiting Sawyer team by 24 points last Tuesday, but the Flashes had whittled their way to within 12 by the time the game was over.

"We can’t take our foot off the pedal," said Jangula. "We’ve got to play with intensity all 32 minutes – it doesn’t matter what the score is."
