The Central McLean Cougar softball team is still shaking off the winter doldrums as they started the 2018 season, going 1-3 in their first three outings, which included a double headers under the bubble at Minot State University.
The Cougars picked up their first win of the season, turning back Beulah by the score of 11-8 after falling in their season opener to Washburn, 7-5.
“For not having played an actual game yet this year I thought we played pretty good,” commented CM Head Coach Kyle Hunt. “It is definitely different playing inside the bubble on the football field, but I think it was enjoyed by all the teams.
It just took the Cougars a little while to get settled into the softball groove, noted Hunt, as the Cougars turned things around in their game against Beulah.
“The first game you could tell we were a little nervous, and a little out-of-sync yet.  We did get a few hits, but left the bases loaded three times which hurt, and was pretty much the difference in the game,” added Hunt.
Mackenzie Holt took the loss on the hill for the Cougars, while Sophie Sparrow picked up the win against Beulah.
