Cougar girls golf wraps up season at Region 5 Qualifier
The Central McLean Cougars varsity girls golf team brought their 2025 season to a close last week with a pair of important tournaments, including the Region 5 Girls Team Qualifier at Pheasant Country Golf Course in South Heart.
Though the team showcased steady play and earned respectable finishes, the season ultimately ended short of a state tournament berth.
The Cougars first teed off at the Central McLean Varsity Girls Invitational on Tuesday, September 16, hosted at Westridge Golf Course in Underwood.
The meet featured a modest field of 20 golfers, giving players one final opportunity to tune up before regionals.
Senior Sally Heger led the way for Central McLean, carding a 104 (+32) to secure 12th place overall.
Fellow senior Maycie Diffely finished 18th with a score of 125 (+53), while sophomore Hayden Bassett rounded out the Cougar competitors in 19th at 131 (+59).
