Cougars bats explode in dominant shutout of Royals
The Central McLean Cougars put together one of their most complete performances of the young season Tuesday, combining timely hitting, dominant pitching, and aggressive offense in a commanding 12-0 road win over the South Prairie-Max Royals.
From the opening inning, Central McLean set the tone.
The Cougars wasted little time getting on the board, plating a run in the top of the first before breaking the game open with three more in the second.
After a scoreless third inning, Central McLean’s offense erupted for five runs in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to cap off the shutout victory.
By game’s end, the Cougars had piled up 14 hits, showcasing production throughout the lineup while putting constant pressure on South Prairie-Max’s defense, which committed five errors in the contest.
Head coach Mike Schachenko said the offensive outburst was an encouraging step forward for his club.
