Cougars battle through Regional
The Central McLean Cougars softball team fought through four tough contests at the Region Tournament in Minot from May 22-24, showing heart and determination before ultimately coming up short in their bid for a state tournament appearance.
The Cougars finished the week 2-2, highlighted by a gritty first-round win and an extra-innings comeback thriller against Washburn-Center-Stanton.
The tournament began on a high note for Central McLean as the Cougars knocked off Harvey-Wells County 5-2 in a well-executed performance.
Central McLean jumped ahead in the first inning and never looked back, using a fourth-inning surge to create separation.
Brooklyn Tomlinson drove in two runs on a 1-for-4 effort, and River Fylling added two RBIs of her own, going 2-for-4 at the plate.
Mya Kittler led the offense with a 3-for-4 showing, while Sally Heger and Harpyr Abrahamson added key hits to keep pressure on Harvey’s defense.
